my heart withers inside my chest
as final words leave your lips
lips i usedta claim as my own
with hungry kisses & searching tongue
you wade into new waters
& i bury myself neck deep in the sand
at high tide

i am a parched bloated carcass
on your pristine white beach
my distended belly food for seagulls
greedily tearing away the flesh
you no longer want
their beaks pierce my chestwall to find
a dried withered heart
with your name still etched on it

as you build your sparkling new sand castles
next to the clear blue ocean
that laps at my swollen decaying feet
my eyes stay fixed open
gazing blankly
the windows through which my dying soul watches
while you take your newly found siren
to coral reef islands
where i refused to go
